Conferred Transcripts with a Graduation Date: Current M-DCPS employees do not need to submit official transcripts if highest degree earned is on file in the Office of Personnel Records (305-995-7258). For external candidates, official transcripts will be required if you are recommended for the position.  Your degree must be from an accredited university. If the position does not require a college degree, you are required to have at least a high school diploma. Candidates with academic training and degrees granted outside the U.S. must submit a credential evaluation report that includes a statement of degree equivalency from an accredited agency in the U.S.

Salary Min:   $81,487.00 

Salary Max:  $150,211.00

OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY

 

Recommends policies for the development and improvement of educational and support services for students determined eligible for specialized services and supports.   Analyses and monitors programs for compliance with local, state and federal requirements.  Responsible for monitoring ESE Programs in the areas of Specific Learning Disabilities and Intellectual Disabilities.

 

 

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

 

1.            Responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Exceptional Student Education (ESE) programs for students with disabilities.

 

2.            Provides technical assistance to the regions, school sites, and other departments regarding programs for students with disabilities.  Compiles and analyzes FTE data to assist with this task and with the distribution of program sites for students with disabilities. 

 

3.            Supervises, develops, and implements procedures for ensuring that information relevant to policy and compliance of local, federal, and state legislation/mandates on the education of students with disabilities is disseminated to school site and district personnel.

 

4.            Develops and facilitates the review of programs for students with disabilities.  Attends Individual Educational Plan (IEP) team meetings, as needed, at region and district levels.

 

5.            Ensures compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and monitors compliance of programs for students with disabilities.

 

6.            Coordinates training for school personnel of the Student Progression Plan and Special Programs and Procedures for Exceptional Students with regards to grading, retention, promotion, graduation, and programmatic needs of students in programs for students with disabilities.

 

7.           Collects student performance data for students with disabilities and assists school personnel with the selection of supplementary research-based curriculum targeting student achievement.

 

8.            Performs other duties related to general administrative responsibilities of the position.

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

This work requires the following physical activities: sitting, mobility, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity.  The work is performed primarily indoors.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

1.            Master’s degree in education or related field with certification in one or more areas of exceptional student education.                                                                       

 

2.            Certification in administration/supervision, or submitted documentation of an approved plan to achieve such certification within two (2) years.

 

3.            Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience in an exceptional student education program.

 

4.            Demonstrated leadership and planning ability.

 

5.            Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
