The Application deadline is Tuesday, July 22, 2025 by 11:59 PM (EST).  This is a DCSAA pay grade 41 position. For external candidates, official transcripts will be required if you are recommended for the position.  Your degree must be from an accredited university. If the position does not require a college degree, you are required to have at least a high school diploma. Candidates with academic training and degrees granted outside the U.S. must submit a credential evaluation report that includes a statement of degree equivalency from an accredited agency in the U.S.

OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY

 

Provides administrative support with the direction, planning, leadership, supervision and overall management of District Inspections.  This position may also provide support with the supervision and oversight of environmental inspections, design, and remediation activities.

 

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

 

1.            Meets periodically with District inspectors to provide information related to application of codes, inspection quality control and progress.

 

2.            Provides training course opportunities for inspectors and monitors inspector recertification progress.

 

3.            Performs District inspections such as fire safety, sanitation, casualty and environmental as needed.

 

4.            Performs quality control reviews of District Inspection and Environmental Management databases to ensure consistency of records.

 

5.            Monitors Safety-to-Life and Environmental Management budget allocations and expenditures.

 

6.            Assists District Pest Control Manager with the development of bid specification and daily operations.

 

7.            Reviews contract documents, technical reports records and other documentation. Assists in the preparation of the Environmental Remediation Term Contract documents.

 

8.            Assists with other inspections related to safety, security and environmental issues.

 

9.            Acts as a consultant and resource person on policies and procedures relating to District inspections.

 

10.         Assists with hurricane training, planning, shelter management and coordination with the Miami-Dade County Department of Emergency Management.

 

11.         Participates in District safety committee meetings.

 

12.         Performs other duties related to the general administrative responsibilities of the position.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

This work requires the following physical activities: climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity.  The work is performed primarily indoors and outdoors and requires frequent in-county travel.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

 

1.            Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or related field and two (2) years of directly related work experience;

OR

                High School Diploma and four (4) years of building, asbestos, safety, or environmental inspection experience.

 

2.            Progressively responsible experience leading and/or directing personnel and/or processes. 

 

3.            Advanced skills utilizing various computerized applications, including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database software.

 

4.            Possession of a valid Florida driver’s license. 

 

5.            Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
