If the position does not require a college degree, you are required to have at least a high school diploma. Candidates with academic training and degrees granted outside the U.S. must submit a credential evaluation report that includes a statement of degree equivalency from an accredited agency in the U.S.

Salary Min: $80,000

OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY
Directs and assists in performing audits of schools (traditional or charter) and departments. Plans and conducts operational, financial and compliance audits to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls. Examines and evaluates the operational, financial and compliance activities of audits for overall effectiveness of internal controls. Determines compliance with selected School Board policies and procedures, generally accepted accounting principles, and federal and state laws and regulations. Makes recommendations to increase efficiency and/or effectiveness of the control systems of the functions reviewed having the potential to impact operations on a district-wide scale.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
1. Supervises scheduling, scope and/or assignment of operational, financial, compliance and/or special review audits.
2. Oversees preparation and/or presentation of audit reports, including findings and recommendations for corrective action.
3. Uses data to make decisions.
4. Assists in the development of audit budget timelines, and monitors projects to ensure they remain within budget.
5. Assigns priorities for personnel resources.
6. Supervises, trains and evaluates staff.
7. Manages staff in coordinating and execution of audits.
8. Reviews audits to ensure enough support for audit follow-up.
9. Attends meeting and/or hearings.
10. Reviews audit findings with appropriate administrator.
11. Directs staff assignments, as appropriate, to avoid unnecessary redundancies of controls while ensuring appropriate control system design, function and efficiency.
12. Performs other duties related to the general administrative responsibilities of the position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This work requires the following physical activities: sitting, mobility, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity. The work is performed primarily indoors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business-related field. Master’s degree highly preferred.
2. Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience, after obtaining degree, in public accounting, internal auditing, or finance;
OR
A combination of five (5) years of progressive experience, after obtaining degree, and certified as a Public Accountant licensed in the State of Florida, Certified Internal Auditor, or Certified Government Auditing Professional certification.
3. Strong knowledge of trends and innovations in the area of public accounting principles, internal auditing, IT, construction accounting and/or finance.
4. Proficient with word processing and spreadsheet skills.
5. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
