BASIC OBJECTIVES
This is a professional position responsible for the instruction of secondary school students in all areas of drama/theatre, including the history of drama/theatre, acting, vocal training, movement, improvisation, the study of plays and their construction, musical theatre, play production, playwriting, stagecraft, costuming and makeup.

 

JOB TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES
1.   Instructs students, using various teaching methods, including lectures, demonstrations, and the direction of performances and performance skills.
2.   Provides instruction in the use of sound equipment and lighting instruments, costuming, makeup and set design and construction.
3.   Prepares course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines.
4.   Assigns lessons; assesses student's progress including homework assignments, and hears presentations.
5.   Prepares and administers tests to evaluate pupil progress, records results, issues reports to inform parents of progress, and assigned final grades.
6.   Maintains attendance and grade records as required by school.
7.   Counsels pupils when adjustment and academic problems arise.
8.   Maintains discipline in the classroom.
9.   Meets with parents to discuss pupils' academic, social and behavioral progress.
10. Participates in faculty and professional meetings and inservice classes.
11. Performs related work as required or as assigned by the supervising administrator or his/her designee.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This is light work which requires the following physical activities: climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity. The worker is exposed to noise and hazards and the work is performed indoors.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Salary Minimum:  $49,500.00
