BASIC OBJECTIVES
The Mental Health Coordinator will be responsible for assisting all learners in developing their potential to grow academically, social, and emotionally. They offer direct services to students who demonstrate signs of mental illnesses that might be aided by professional treatment. They provide assessment, intervention and prevention services. They serve as a liaison between the home, school and community and work collaboratively with all school team members to promote the mental health and well-being of students.
JOB TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Conducts formal or informal assessments to determine a student’s mental health status and provides information that is directly useful in designing interventions.
2. Develops or designs models of prevention and/or intervention aimed at improving academic achievement, behavior and/or social/emotional development.
3. Provides individual, group or family counseling to address targeted problems interfering with
students functioning and mental well-being.
4. Coordinates access to community mental health resources that address the needs of the student and support students’ success.
5. Provides consultation to facilitate an understanding of factors in the home, school and community that affect students’ experiences and works in collaboration with school personnel and
community providers to enhance the social and emotional well-being and safety of students.
6. Assists schools in creating and maintaining a safe environment and promotes the development of cognitive, academic, emotional, and social growth among students.
7. Maintains accurate data relevant to planning, managing and evaluating mental health services.
8. Complies with the various local, state and federal mandates related to confidentiality and exercises professional judgment in the use of confidential information,
based on best practice, legal, and ethical considerations.
9. Performs other related duties as required or as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This is work which requires climbing, bending, reaching, sitting, standing, frequent walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing acuity and visual acuity. The employee is required to travel frequently by car and is subject to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1. Master’s degree and licensing in mental health counseling, social work, psychology, counseling or related field.
2. Demonstrated two (2) year’s experience with mental health patients, social work, psychology, counseling or related area.
3. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.

Starting Salary: $53,053.00*
*(includes 6% Referendum Retirement Accruing Supplement of $3,003)
New hires may be eligible to receive credit for verified years of experience, which can enhance their starting salary.
