BASIC OBJECTIVES
The primary responsibilities of the speech-language pathologist are to identify and assess individuals who may have speech/language/hearing disorders and to recommend appropriate therapeutic and instructional intervention.
JOB TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Organizes and implements a speech and language screening process in a time frame or sequence consistent with district directors.
2. Assists in the identification of hearing disorders and makes recommendations for diagnostic evaluations.
3. Diagnoses speech and language disorders and makes referrals for additional diagnostic testing, when indicated, and maintains relevant records.
4. Develops a speech therapy schedule consistent with placement and frequency as indicated on the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for each student.
5. Conducts therapy sessions consistent with clinical intervention practices.
6. Informs classroom teachers and other appropriate school personnel of progress of students receiving speech/language/hearing services.
7. Develops and maintains communication with other allied professionals.
8. Contains professional growth through a review of the literature, membership in professional organizations, attendance at professional meetings and participation at inservice programs.
9. Promotes the acceptance, support and utilization of speech/language/hearing services in the school and the community.
10. Meets and consults with parents, administrators and others to develop individual educational plans for students who are speech and/or language impaired.
11. Participates in transition planning.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This is light work which includes the following physical activities: bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing and visual acuity. The work is performed primarily indoors.

Starting Salary: $53,053.00*
*(includes 6% Referendum Retirement Accruing Supplement of $3,003)
New hires may be eligible to receive credit for verified years of experience, which can enhance their starting salary.
